I miss subway tokens — the cool, transit-only currency of old. Nowadays, subway stations are littered with MetroCards, the credit-card sized single and multi-ride tickets. NYC-based designer Nina Boesch creates collages out of these discarded MetroCards, rendering all sorts of NYC-centric subjects in the characteristic shades of blue and yellow.

Check out MetroCard Collages for more examples of Nina’s work, and also a fun tool that lets you upload your own photo to see what it would look like as a MetroCard collage. Via the excellent Subway Art Blog.

  1. Finally, creative reuse of something so ordinary and functional! I love it. Thank you so much for sharing!
