Jean-Robert’s Table at 7th and Vine Sts. in downtown Cincinnati now boasts a cool mural on its side, recently completed by local artist Scott Donaldson and a crew of ArtWorks apprentices.
The mural spans the southern wall of the restaurant and overlooks the parking lot. It’s a bit of an odd site, because it’s not a very tall wall, with almost 1/3 of the height being at times covered up by cars. Donaldson solved this problem by situating all of the important elements higher up on the wall, but extending the design to the ground.
Hurray for flying pigs! This element recalls the artist’s Campy Washington mural, which is still one of my favorites in the Cincinnati area.

In my mind, Scott Donaldson is one of Cincinnati’s rockstar painters, and his murals are absolutely awesome — visually clever and impeccably painted. Here is his mural on the side of the Emanuel Community Center in Over-the-Rhine:
