Cornhole at Fifth and Walnut

This PARK[ing] spot lasted maybe an hour during rush hour yesterday morning, before it had to be packed up. Just a hop and a skip south of Fountain Square, this was definitely the most audacious location. Thank you, John and Alicia, for putting on the show! In the coming days, photos of all the spots will be posted on the Cincinnati PARK[ing] Day blog.

  1. Question of the day…do you think that was illegal? I went to District 1 and City Hall and still do not know the answer…

  2. If you cross reference all the fine print it probably isn’t legal per se. But there are clearly circumstances where it is tolerated and others where it isn’t.

The other issue is safety and use of “highways” which the city seems to define as most any public roadway. There are allowable uses, prohibited uses, and restricted uses. This is probably a restricted use, which would require a permit, and following applicable standards, to be allowed.

This project is cool because it exist in that gray area outside of the comfort zone and the law.
