Amarillo, TX had a bit of a “Wild West” feel to me. We saw tons of ghost signs on our drive through town, including this one, proclaiming On the Spot Financing!

Route 66 in Tucumcari, NM
As we were heading back to Cincinnati on the Great American Road Trip, we mostly took I-40, or the Southern route that roughly follows old Route 66, the Mother Road. We were looking for old signage and existing businesses on the former Main Street of America, and we ended up exploring the town of Tucumcari in some depth.

I’d seen photos of Cadillac Ranch [no, not the douchebag bar] before but didn’t realize that it still exists, or that we’d accidentally stumble on it while making our way home to Cincinnati across the Texas panhandle [which doesn’t really look like a panhandle, BTW].
