Know Outlets in Indianapolis

Know Outlets in Indianapolis

Know Outlets is an outreach and advocacy campaign by Coalition for Homelessness Intervention & Prevention, which includes these parking meters that have been repurposed to accept donations.

It’s pretty brilliant, really — public art meets highly visible activism. The bold branding encourages referencing the program on social media. I love that this ubiquitous bit of urban infrastructure has been turned into something very different.

  1. They started doing something similar in Springfield, Missouri in the last few years, with repurposed parking meters. Don’t know how well it’s gone.
