450 Sutter is a neo-Mayan Art Deco skyscraper located in downtown San Francisco. Designed by Timothy L. Pflueger, this medical professional building was completed in 1929.

My friends’ dentist is located in this building. I think the eye candy here almost makes up for the trauma of visiting the dentist:

The neo-Mayan ornamentation continues in the lobby, where similar motifs appear on the ceiling and doors:

So much marble!

And this light fixture? Yeah, I wouldn’t mind having one of these in my house:

Timothy L. Pflueger was a San Francisco-based draftsman, architect and interior designer whose commissions included private clubs, schools, movie theaters, and office buildings [for example, the Pacific Telephone Building, also in San Francisco, and the Paramount Theatre in Oakland].

  1. This is an amazing building. The details and intricate designs are impressive. You are right, I wouldn’t mind going to the dentist either, if my dentist was in that building.
