Is it too early to think about Christmas stocking stuffers? We don’t believe it is, so we’ve just produced a small batch of our North Pole Coal: Blooming Briquettes.

We used a mixture of wildflower seeds that’s suitable to plant anywhere in the US, individually hand-molding each briquette into shape. Each one is approximately the size of four of our regular seed bombs:

Once completely dry, the briquettes are individually dip-dyed in a top-secret non-toxic black dye that won’t harm humans, animals, or plants. It’s a messy and tedious process, but the results are pretty convincing:

The briquettes dry again before we package them into our screenprinted burlap pouches:

  1. Ha, you’re right. Dyeing these things is such a huge pain in the butt, and I always get dirty no matter how well I try to protect myself. Every year I say that we won’t do it again…
