Liberty Tire Ghost Sign in Cincinnati, RIP

The latest injustice perpetrated against ghost signs is the recent demolition of the Liberty Tire building in Northside. Luckily, VL blog reader Jared Presley took some photos about a month ago, right before this Cincinnati icon was torn down.

Check out the rest of Jared’s photos and compare them to mine from Spring 2013. Thank you, Jared, for allowing me to share your images!

  1. As offensive as it was, it was still a work of art. And, one might argue, an important history lesson in how this nation viewed (views?) Native Americans.

  2. oh, lord, yes, American Whites viewed Native American boys as people with pet dogs & liked to roll tires around…
The mural is silly as hell.
Anyway, this loss is just dumb. The owner wouldn’t let go of it & preferred to let it fall into ruin.
He should be doomed to kayaking the Mill Creek for eternity.
