The amount of hand wringing over this mural surprised me, somehow people didn’t realize that street art is fleeting? Its like life itself, live in the moment and enjoy it while you can.
(not implying that’s you)
Hand-wringing? Who? Where? I must have missed it.
You know, I’m a big fan of Candy Chang but, having seen photos of this project in different places, plus seeing the evolution of this installation in OTR and the same thing in Louisville last week, brought to light the fact that, when people are given a voice in this manner, a lot of what they end up saying is pure garbage. They say clever or silly things, make smart-ass remarks, promote their own whatever, make jokes, etc.
There’s nothing wrong with any of that, I guess, but is it revelatory? What do we end up learning about our neighbors? That they’re shallow? Immature? Self-serving? This is one of those things that seems like a great idea, but the actual on-site execution leaves me a bit flat.
Twitter and instagram.
Ahh, I don’t keep up with those so I missed the drama. It’s just as well that I was able to enjoy this simply for what it was. Onward!
You’re missing out on so much making mountains out of molehills you have no idea.
Wow, that sounds truly fantastic. Not!
