The eighth installment of my typological investigation into the vanity license plates of Southwestern Ohio focuses on places, starting with NEUYORK and my accidental selfie.
Ohio State is CAL DRMN:
CALI CHC:
ASPEN5:
TOLEDO M:
Closer to home, we’ve got GRN CIN, CINCY GL, CIN OHIO and JWS NATI:
Place pride goes micro with the Cincinnati neighborhoods of MT ADAMS, UPTOWN2 and OTR MTRS:
Shifting our focus to Europe, we’ve got SOPOT, which is a charming resort town on Poland’s Baltic coast [also a really random Ohio vanity license plate]:
HOLLAND and FINLAND:
Further out, there’s CHYNA:
We’ll end with outer space, namely ONCLD9 and the ambitious ON2MARS:
But wait, there’s more! For other installments in this series, check out Part 1: meta expression, Part 2: sports messaging, and possibly adult content, Part 3: God stuff, Part 4: local businesses, Part 5: professions, Part 6: names and self-designations, and Part 7: love and marriage.
There’s one I see every now and again: a little blue, boxy car with the plate: TARD1S.
Chyna the country is a stretch, it reads more like a stripper name to me. Or a WWF wrestler.
Since I noticed the first few, when we initially move to Cincinnati, I suddenly started seeing them everywhere, constantly. Yeah, some of my thematic groupings may be a stretch; YOU try to organize this stuff into a taxonomical system!
