Andy Curlowe hails from Schenectady, NY and now lives in Cleveland, where he creates layered, abstracted landscapes using mostly paint, pencil and collage. In his words, the work is a “reflection of the ever-changing relationship between the natural world and the world of human influence.”
Curlowe’s work is full of contrast between hard and soft edges, flat color and texture, and soft and bright tones. Elements reminiscent of technical drawings appear throughout, with simplified human figures positioned as if for scale. For more, check out the artist’s site and a recent interview.
