Earlier this summer, I had the utmost pleasure of designing a set of posters to promote Community Arts Centers Day, which is happening this weekend at eleven sites throughout the Cincinnati area, from The Carnegie in Covington all the way up to the Oxford Community Arts Center.
The design was loosely inspired by the Strobridge posters featured in The Amazing American Circus Poster, which was at the Cincinnati Art Museum earlier this year.
Above is the two-color, screenprinted “keepsake” poster promoting the event as a whole. Below is one of the digitally output individual event posters, for the Peaslee Neighborhood Center in Over-the-Rhine. Each community arts center is hosting workshops and other activities this weekend, culminating in a parade through the neighborhood, and also including free ice cream.
Learn more about Community Arts Centers Day, and check out the calendar to find out what your local community arts center has planned for this weekend. This is sure to be a weekend of fun events, and designing these posters is the most fun I’ve had in a while!
