For the last few months, our dear friend and talented Over-the-Rhine neighbor Cedric Michael Cox has been preparing for his exhibit at the Weston Art Gallery. Ascending Horizons: Paintings & Drawings by Cedric Michael Cox opens this Friday, 17 Sep, 6-9pm. Earlier this summer, I checked out his latest work-in-progress [and the artful mess] in his studio.
I’m really looking forward to seeing this finished painting. When I photographed it, it was a bit of a departure from Cedric’s usual tight architectural cityscapes. I hope it hasn’t lost its sense of atmosphere hanging over the city.
The opening reception is this Friday, 17 Sep, 6-9pm, with an artist talk scheduled for Thursday, 21 Oct, 7pm.. The exhibition will run through 5 Dec. The Weston Art Gallery is located at the corner of 7th and Walnut in downtown Cincinnati. Gallery hours are Tue-Sat 10am-5:30pm, and Sun 10am-5pm.
For more information on Cedric and his work, check out his site, and also a recent Soapbox feature and an older Cincinnati Art Snob interview. Also, if you haven’t seen it in person, see photos of the Raymond Thunder-Sky Mural that Cedric and Antonio Adams created last summer in Northside.
Thanks for the shout out. I cant wait to share the work with the public. Thanks Maya and Mike!
It’s our pleasure. See you at the opening!
