If you’ve found yourself around 12th and Jackson Streets in Over-the-Rhine lately, you’ve surely noticed this trippy little mural overlooking the parking lot. Entitled Ice Cream Daydream, it was recently completed by artist Amanda Checco and her team of teen apprentices from ArtWorks. We know this site well — this is the side of the Germania Building, one of the inspirations for our Flourishing line of textiles and ceramics.
This was Amanda’s first-ever mural, and I think she did an incredible job. It’s both fun and funny, and has a really striking presence on the side of a distinguished area building. Don’t bother making any “Lisa Frank” comments about it — I think Amanda’s heard them all before. The formal dedication ceremony is tomorrow night [Final Friday!], 5:30-7:30pm.
i LIKE IT!!
Great photo documentation!
Great piece, a vivid inspiring addition to our community.
I hope you’ll all be able to stop by the dedication ceremony tonight as part of the monthly Final Friday in Over-the-Rhine. It’s a beautiful day to check out this mural!
What a gorgeous mural! Thank you so much for sharing.
