Eleven Heavy Things by Miranda July is a temporary installation in Union Square, originally created for the Venice Biennale. It includes eleven sculptures, which the artist calls photo props, that look a bit like giant white marshmallows.

I usually shy away from photographing strangers, but these guys made it so easy. Look, each one is guiltier than the next:

Union Square is one of those public spaces that seems to always be crowded, and I think this installation, ostensibly providing photo opportunities, fits really well into its setting. It’s silly and clever. A quick Flickr search reveals that many people have, in fact, posed with these sculptures this summer.
