Tucker’s Restaurant in Gourmet Magazine

Cincinnati PARK[ing] Day 2009 in front of Tucker's Restaurant

Ahem. In case you don’t get Gourmet, the latest issue includes an article entitled Restaurants Worth the Money, and the Midwest list starts with, “Tucker’s: For more than 60 years, this family-run diner has endured in the perpetually burgeoning Over-the-Rhine neighborhood. The secret? Oversize omelets, sturdy BLTs, and a killer vegetarian take on huevos rancheros.” Now you know, and now everybody knows about Tucker’s.

Thanks, Gourmet, for spilling the beans, and a major congratulations to the Tuckers! [Although, I am sort of pissed, too.]

These photos were taken in front of Tucker’s during last Friday’s Cincinnati PARK[ing] Day. Thank you to Brian for getting everyone together and Adrienne for the photos! Below, Chris and Chico from Lagniappe are jamming on the sidewalk:

I have to mention Lagniappe again, because this band is so much fun! They performed at the OTR/Gateway Summer Celebration this June, and they play regularly at Arnold’s and other venues around town. Chris was briefly our landlord; ask him about the compound in Over-the-Rhine.

  1. They were SO PACKED on Sunday– despite the rainy day. Carla was saying that just the weekend before, they were dead, and that this coming weekend they were going out of town for a wedding, so they’d be closed!

It’s easily my favorite place in OTR, and possibly all of downtown. Try Carla’s new multigrain pancakes with bananas and hazelnuts– yum.

  2. Advance notice:

Sidewalk dining at Tucker’s is on tap for Sunday, October 4 as part of the street fair planned by St. Francis Seraph Church for the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi.

  3. PARK(ing) Day 2009 was a blast!!!
