Pillows by Bridget Davies

London-based Bridget Davies designs lovely embroidered and appliqued pillows that feature elements like fences, gates, and benches. Her idea is to “throw art on sofas and chairs, rather than just hanging it on walls.” Gorgeous!

Sidenote: I think these pillows appeal to me partly because they remind me of the Buckingham pattern by Eva Zeisel, which is one my favorites by her [and she is one of my absolute design heroines!]. This must be an unpopular pattern, because I was only able to find these two images via replacements.com:

  1. Eva Zeisel is 103 years old and, in a career spanning roughly 80 years, there’s plenty of work of hers that’s better known. I’ve seen Buckingham dishes pop up on eBay every once in a while, but I don’t think it’s one of her iconic lines.

  2. Thanks for posting this, been searching all morning for the name of the Zeisel “Buckingham” pattern. Found 4 plates in a thrift shop the other day – saw somewhere else that she designed this based on the “prison-like” view from her Riverside Drive basement apartment!
