Do this within the next three days: get yourself down to the Main Branch of the Public Library to see this year’s exhibit of Architecture by Children, a K-12 program sponsored by the American Institute of Architects and the Architectural Foundation of Cincinnati. This year’s theme is Transportation Station.

While area adults discuss the merits of the proposed streetcar, area children are already planning for multimodal transport that might include rockets, time travel, and pirate ships. They’re also innovating with entirely new transportation options like the Bubble Subway, the Lazy Train, and the Eastgate Underground Railroad Subway. There is a focus on features like green roofs and amenities like social spaces.

This is truly an eclectic and inspiring collection of concepts. The exhibit run ends on Saturday, with an awards ceremony and reception in the Main Library Atrium, noon-2pm. Congratulations to all the students and mentors involved in this program!
