Cincinnati-based Cedric Cox is a talented painter and one my favorite people I’ve met in this town. His work falls somewhere between surrealism and abstraction, with a dense rhythm of repeating geometric forms.

Last summer, Cedric participated in A Mad Tea {Towel} Party!, the exhibit I curated at the now-defunct Nicholas Gallery downtown [which included work by Skinny laMinx from Cape Town, South Africa and Phat Sheep from the Shetland Isles, Scotland]. I ended up with the painting below, his first on a linen tea towel, now part of a new body of small works on linen:

Tea Towel #1 by Cedric Cox
These are lovely. I really enjoy these posts of yours.
Thanks! Really, though, thank the people who make cool stuff for me to find and share. I haven’t been posting enough about local art lately, and I’m now trying to change that.
We attended the A Mad Tea {Towel} Party! at Nicholas Gallery.
I think I bought one of your tea towels.
I have to go look tonight and see.
Next up Courtney Cooper.
