Signs of the Times is a public art project by Seyed Alavi on utility boxes in Emeryville, CA. Alavi created the Flying Carpet in the Sacramento Airport I wrote about last year, so this project was on my Bay Area to-do list. Unfortunately, I only saw the above sign in person; below are a few more snagged from his site.
This sort of reminds me of Graphic Design 101 [not that there’s anything wrong with that]. When I taught a similar project, I encouraged my students to consider mounting their signs on-site; much hilarity, some confusion, and a bit of trouble ensued.
