Town Print by Lisa Jones

Town Print by Lisa Jones

The work of London-based Lisa Jones reminds me a bit of Julia Rothman, and her new Town print seems like the provincial cousin of Rothman’s Luxury Apartments. All of that is intended as a compliment; I love this print, and the yellow is spot-on! [No, really, this yellow is very similar to Pantone’s 2009 Color of the Year, Mimosa.]

  1. Great find – and this particular piece another good example of the retro aesthetic spreading its tentacles. This is what I currently do too, along with so many other illustrators right now. You’d think the attraction would wane by now, or maybe event the message (if there is one), but it never does for me.

  2. It’s more than just a retro illustration style; it’s almost “neo naivete” [or, at its worst, what I’ve calling “twee”]. I really, really like this print, and I was overjoyed when I received the Julia Rothman one for my birthday.
