The Cloisters Museum & Gardens

The Cloisters Museum & Gardens is a branch of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, located in Fort Tryon Park in upper Manhattan’s Washington Heights neighborhood. It is dedicated to Medieval art and architecture, and the building itself incorporates parts from five French cloistered abbeys.

Portland, OR-based Matte Stephens is sort of the love child of Georges Damin and Mark Coomer, with a hint of Nicholas Takis and a touch of Jim Flora in the mix, sprinkled with a garnish of early Charley Harper. His gouache paintings are very much rooted in the forms and colors of the middle of the 20th century, and I especially like his scenes of different cities.

Stockholm-based photographer Patrik Lindell has an incredible eye for tight composition and strong color utilizing elements of the manmade landscape. Sans people, the viewer focuses on the geometry and repetition in these images.

Mine's Bigger Than Yours by Rondle West

Self-taught artist Rondle West divides his time between Cincinnati and Palm Springs. His work consists of found references to cartoons, science fiction, and technology, all assembled into mix-media vignettes that are then painted a single color. The results are playful yet eerie, fusing elements of pop culture in a way that suggests critique but does not fully reveal its intent.

Joshua Tree National Park in California

Joshua Tree National Park in southeastern California encompasses parts of the higher-elevation Mojave Desert, where Joshua trees are found, and the lower-elevation Colorado Desert, home to cholla cacti.

Mesa Verde National Park in Colorado

Located in Southwestern Colorado, Mesa Verde National Park preserves and showcases approximately 600 cliff dwellings of the Ancestral Puebloans, built around 1200 AD. In recognition of its archaeological relevance, it attained UNESCO World Heritage Site status in 1978.

But, a sister isn’t just any client, and her wedding called for a very special invitation design by Michael featuring San Francisco spots meaningful to the couple, printed by Worthington, OH-based Igloo Letterpress. The Del Mar wedding was actually the impetus for our Great American Road Trip.

Shepherd’s Hut in Comanche National Grassland, CO

One of the goals for the Great American Road Trip was to see the landscape in its natural form whenever possible, which led us to the Comanche National Grassland in Southeastern Colorado, where we spotted these ruins of a stone hut on the side of a dirt road.
