Wowsa, right? This here glittery tiled wall is at 615 Main St. in downtown Cincinnati [apparently, it's the M&M Building]. How amazing is this ampersand?

Most of the tile I’ve seen and documented in the Cincinnati area is roughly circa 1900, but I do have a soft spot for the less common, more Modern examples like this one. One of my favorites is the striped tile pattern facade of the fire station at 5th and Central:

When Provident Camera closed earlier this year, I didn’t really hear people mourn its loss. Maybe they accepted that stores like this no longer need to exist in neighborhoods like this. For us, though, the loss was significant, since now we have to go to Kenwood for our specialized light bulbs. In any case, here is the ghost signage Provident has left behind.

Hot off the presses is our largest serigraph yet –20×28 inches, and three colors. The print shows the Ohio River, downtown, Over-the-Rhine, Mt. Auburn, Clifton, the University of Cincinnati, and parts of Queensgate, the West End, and Mt. Adams. You can recognize the major buildings and landmarks by their distinctive shapes. The coordinates in the lower left corner reference the heart of Fountain Square.

The colors are dark green, pale blue, and orange-red on heavyweight bright white, acid-free, recycled stock from French Paper. The paper measures 20×28 inches, and the print was printed in an edition of 20, each signed and numbered. The print is available framed at MiCA 12/v and unframed in our online shop.

Those of you who know our work are familiar with the Over-the-Rhine Footprint print, which has been our biggest hit to date. We’ve printed it on practically every color imaginable, and on wood veneer.

Seeing this new print, I’m wondering if it isn’t time to revisit the design of the other one. What do y’all think? If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it? Or, am I right that it’s time?

It’s supposed to get up to 74 degrees on this glorious mid-October day, and Macy’s already has its Christmas decorations out in full force. So, now the Christmas season lasts 1/4 of the year?

Today the exhibition House of Cars: Innovation and the Parking Garage opens at the National Building Museum in Washington, DC. It is the first-ever exhibit to focus on parking garages. Actually, what’s really momentous about it is that the above photo, taken by yours truly about a year and half ago, is part of the exhibit!

Earlier this year, I was contacted by a curator at the NBM about permission to reproduce this photo in this upcoming exhibit. After verifying the legitimacy of the query, I happily obliged. Now, can I put this on my résumé?

Save the date! Our talented friend Cedric Michael Cox will be having an exhibit of new paintings entitled Soul within Structure at the Contemporary Arts Center, with an opening reception on Sat 24 Oct, 1-4pm. I had fun designing the poster promoting the exhibit and, this time, our intern helped with the printing.

The forms I used were lifted from this painting by Cedric, and also from the form of the Zaha Hadid-designed CAC itself.

Here’s our intern, thinking about helping us in the studio, but mostly focusing on hunting birds.

She checked out the quality of our transparencies. Yup, passable…
