This blog is written and maintained by Maya Drozdz, co-founder and partner in the all-media design studio VisuaLingual, currently based in Cincinnati, OH. You can contact me at mayadrozdz [at] gmail [dot] com. Here is my official-ish bio:
“Born in Gdynia, Poland and raised in Gdynia and Brooklyn, Maya Drozdz received her BA in Philosophy+Critical Theory from Cornell University and her MFA in 2D Design from Cranbrook Academy of Art. Her interests center on graphic design theory, particularly its intersection with popular culture and the urban environment. Her professional experience includes identity, print, interaction, and environmental design, as well as teaching, lecturing, writing, and curating design exhibits worldwide.
Maya is included in From Concept to Form: The Fundamentals of Graphic Design by Scott Santoro [Prentice Hall] and 100 Habits of Successful Publication Designers by Laurel Saville [Rockport]. Both books were published Fall 2008. She has curated numerous exhibits, including Outside In: An International Poster Exhibit and I Profess: The Graphic Design Manifesto, both of which traveled across the US.”
My interests include urban life, visual culture, typography, cartography, architecture, interior design, and home decor, and this blog focuses primarily on points of intersection among those areas. If you know of something out there that would be of interest to me, drop me a line. I’m always curious to learn more.
