Illustrator Jon Klassen is from Niagara Falls and now lives in Los Angeles, where he creates these very odd, almost creepy images for clients such as Hyperion Books and the New York Times, as well as work for films and children’s books.
My favorite is this mirror image-type illustration of two houses and the footprints between them, on a background that resembles a Rorschach test:
