Illustrator Jon Klassen is from Niagara Falls and now lives in Los Angeles, where he creates these very odd, almost creepy images for clients such as Hyperion Books and the New York Times, as well as work for films and children’s books.

Spotted in downtown Chicago within sight of the CNA Building: a faded ghost sign for Lyon & Healy — “everything known in music.” The company was founded in Chicago in 1864; I wonder how old this sign is.

The mural Visions in Pullman was painted by students from the American Academy of Art 15 years ago. It’s situated on the back of the Historic Pullman Visitor Center at the corner of 112th St. and Cottage Grove Ave., on the South side of Chicago.
