Last weekend was Subsurface, an annual street art event that takes place on the South side of Indianapolis. Now in its 9th year, it’s organized by our friends Ben and Dan, a.k.a. the Fabulous Aerosol Brothers.

I felt pretty busted when I photographed the photographers above. Ha! The site is basically an extensive graf-filled campus by the railroad tracks. Everything I saw was, to some extent, still in progress with people milling around and painting over last year’s pieces.

I’ve been on a teal kick lately, so I especially enjoyed checking out the progress of this wall:

It’s really cool to see everyone painting in the middle of the day, the guys with their ladies, kids and pitbulls. It’s a nice mix of one-upmanship and camaraderie.

Cincinnati’s own Higher Level Art‘s remnants from last year:

The Subsurface site isn’t up right now but, for more eye candy, you can check out photos from previous years and a video from last year. Next year will be the 10th anniversary, so I’m sure it’ll be even bigger and better than this year.
