Spotted on Hamilton Ave. in the Northside neighborhood of Cincinnati — a terrazzo ghost sign featuring beautiful script and a wayward apostrophe. Where is it going? Is it Jacob’s or Jacobs’?


jacob’s was the gay bar that was there before “bronz”. i’m not sure if they called it jacob’s because the type was there first or vice versa.
Oh, okay. My guess is that it took the name from the pre-existing lettering, because this looks old, and I can’t imagine that Cincinnati had gay bars that long ago. Then again, I really have no idea.
To me, it’s really looks like Jacobs’ more than Jacob’s.
Very nice post. I love these old signs and always enjoy coming across them in older neighborhoods.
