Nippers have blades that are sideways, or “east/west” compared to scissors. And they have handles configured like a pair of pliers. In fact, some of your male tool fetishists consider nippers to be pliers that cut rather than grab.
There are also surgical nippers, but you don’t want to know what they’re used for, believe me.
Okay, brief research reveals that nippers are used for cutting nails and cuticles. I don’t want to know what surgical nippers are for; my imagination is already trying to figure it out, in spite of myself.
