These minimalist travel posters for places like Endor and Tatooine make me laugh. Chicago-based designer Justin Van Genderen created an entire series of screenprinted destination posters for planets in the world of Star Wars; some are still available in his Etsy shop.

You know what would be cool? A Film Studies/Urban Planning class whose screenings could include classics such as Metropolis and Weekend, and also little gems like 8 Mile, The Warriors and, of course, Over the Edge. A bit of trivia: Matt Dillon’s famous line, “A kid who tells on another kid is a dead kid” [...]

Stratum Pier by Richmond, VA-based Kendall Buster is an emerald green fiberglass and steel pier whose undulating, repeating forms seem to suggest a topographical map. It is one of the many public artworks on display at 100 Acres, the new sculpture park at the Indianapolis Museum of Art, along with Free Basket by Los Carpinteros, [...]

Amanda Checco’s Ice Cream Daydream has some competition from Tina Westerkamp’s The Divine Proportion of All Things for Maya’s Favorite ArtWorks Mural of 2010. Maybe I can have two favorites: Amanda’s in Cincinnati and Tina’s across the river in Covington.

Margaret Rankin is an artist and landscape architect living in Toronto, who sells her prints on Etsy under the name Magprint. These block prints are from a series based on photographs by Toronto-based photographer Graham Iddon. I love the rich colors and bold geometry of these overpasses — they may be ugly in real life, [...]
