This compound, at the corner of Central Ave. and Findlay St. in Cincinnati’s West End neighborhood, is covered in ghost signs. Yes! It was once home to the David Shoe Co., as these large signs make plain. These windows remind me of Spencer Finch’s High Line installation, but these variegated shades of blue are the result of age, not art.

Fred Lemon apparently painted these signs. I’ll have to keep an eye out for his signature on other area ghost signs.

Jotco Inc. — another ghost sign layer, or a current tenant?
