Congratulations to Cincinnati’s own Able Projects on a fantastic installation that opened at the Contemporary Arts Center last Saturday. Entitled Stay Up! Cincinnati, the street art-style project highlights some of Cincinnati’s more notable hometown heroes and heroines, including Annie Oakley, Charles Ezzard and Doris Day.

When urban planner Cherry Chaicharn relocated from her beloved San Francisco to Hong Kong, she founded August Table, a company that creates city-centric tableware. Chicago-based artist Nicholas Sistler paints decidedly unmonumental subjects using an exaggerated sense of scale and space, reminiscent of the early works of Surrealist painter Giorgio de Chirico. With lurid colors and menacing perspective, these images disturb the perceived quiet and comfort of domestic space.
