Oh, how I wish I were in NYC today! This ceramic tile installation, a collaboration between Ayumi Horie and Andy Brayman, opens today in celebration of the Greenwich House‘s Centennial and the wildlife in Greenwich Village in 1609, when Henry Hudson first sailed into New York harbor.

Marcia Alscher grew up in St. Louis and trained in architecture. She now lives in Covington, where she uses acrylics to paint these intimately scaled, highly geometric portraits of the built environment.

The Canadian artist Ian Hundley is now based in Brooklyn, where he finds inspiration in the cartographic representations of places. His topographically-inspired landscapes take form as intricate, pieced quilts.

The Woodward at 14th and Main Sts. in Over-the-Rhine is a fairly small but very ornate corner building, which now houses Greg’s Antiques. If you look carefully, you can see the ghost sign for Atlas Furniture.
Amoebic Public Art in San Francisco

This amoebic-looking terrazzo inlay was spotted on Mission St. at 22nd in San Francisco, just a few blocks from Arriba Juntos and its cool, mural-covered facade. I haven’t been able to find out anything about this project or the artist.

What have we here? This is a building in Oakley, on the corner of Brazee St. and Enyart Ave., right by the train tracks. It has been covered in what appears to be a Miami Vice-inspired version of razzle dazzle. Does anyone know anything about this?

How awesome are the jaunty forms and funky colors in this painting by Georges Damin? Born in Lyon in 1942, Damin has exhibited his work throughout Western Europe and the US, and now has a studio and gallery in Lyon, where he regularly exhibits his own work.

At Central Parkway and Whiteman in the West End, just a hop and a skip from Over-the-Rhine, we find this charming ghost sign advertising Little Kings cream ale. “WHERE BEER WILSIGN SPACER BE.”
