Briefly, Whit Stillman seemed to become the upper crust’s own John Hughes, and then, like Hughes, Stillman largely disappeared. This scene from his Metropolitan is a real gem.

I woke up yesterday morning to discover that Over-the-Rhine was, in fact, the edge of the universe. My trusty friends, Carew Tower, the Kroger Building, et al., were nowhere to be found. Who imported all this fog from San Francisco?

The Topiary Park in Columbus

The Topiary Park in Columbus is a three-dimensional version of Georges Seurat’s famous painting A Sunday Afternoon on the Isle of La Grande Jatte. It includes 54 human figures, eight boats, three dogs, a monkey and a cat, all made of yew.

Daniel Danger of the Tiny Media Empire is a Boston-based illustrator, printmaker and musician who creates these haunting, creepy, masterfully printed images with bizarre titles. Danger’s work reminds me a bit of Luke Painter’s drawings that I wrote about earlier.
