Sky Landscape II is a 3,800-pound, 20-foot tall painted steel sculpture by Louise Nevelson located at the 8th & Walnut Street entrance to the Main Branch of the Cincinnati Public Library. I really love the ways in which it interacts with its surrounding buildings. Each viewing angle yields new juxtapositions. (more…)
I’m still reeling from last Sunday’s obscene spectacle, and the work of Andrea Cobb is the perfect antidote — so fresh and so clean. A North Carolina native, Andrea trained at Parsons in NYC and, after a decade in the big city, she is now again based in NC. Her clients have included Target, American Express, United Airlines, Chronicle Books, and, oh, Cincinnati Magazine. (more…)
Street Sleeper: “Cummfy Banana offers alternative sightseeing in a motorised four-poster bed with top-speeds of 70 mph. Lazy London tourists can take it very easy indeed.”
Dirty, densely populated, with inadequate resources, some displays of shocking behavior, and plenty of excitement — sounds like a city, doesn’t it? This mural is on the back of a building directly behind the Enquirer Building in downtown Cincinnati. These shots were taken from the alley. I like thinking that the eyes are watching the Cincinnati Enquirer to ensure justice and impartiality. I’m making that up, of course; I have no idea. Anyone know the story behind this? (more…)
On this Memorial Day weekend, let’s listen to Ill Bill and Goretex as they speak of what they know, “Glenwood Projects — we livin’ the American dream.” Gotta love the Braunstein brothers… (more…)
So Maybe the Slackers Had It Right After All: “We moved to San Francisco and Brooklyn and Mission Hill. We jumped from job to job. Put off marriage. Never bought a place… We’ve got no house to lose, no career to dash, no school-aged children in need of pricey Wii gaming systems.”
