drip plates by Cat Merrick

Brooklyn-based Cat Merrick sandblasts vintage ceramic plates to remove most of their decoration, leaving only a seemingly abstract design. These “drip” plates are/were decorated with traditional pastoral scenes.

  1. I completely agree, although the scavenged nature of these plates is part of the charm of the project, and you find what you find when you’re scavenging for a starting point. Sarah Cihat is another artist who has reused and decorated found plates, to a completely different effect.
