Policemen around the World by Richard Erdoes

With yesterday’s post about surveillance as a jumping-off point, here are some illustrations by Richard Erdoes from his children’s book Policemen around the World, circa 1967. Erdoes was born in Vienna and emigrated to the US. In addition to several children’s books, he did a lot of editorial illustration work for LIFE magazine.

I found Richard Erdoes via Grain Edit, a really fun and informative archive of vintage illustration and design, which contains a bit more information about the artist, and there’s a bit more on I’m Learning to Share. The images came from Grain Edit and Eric Sturdevant.

  2. I love the third one! It’s aways interesting seeing animals co-exist. You should check out works by Edward Hicks.
